Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the WAVE Fund and other energy assistance programs?
The WAVE Fund is the only program targeted for the city of Detroit residents with funds earmarked specifically for payment of water and sewerage bills. WAVE assistance is intended to be a one-time emergency fund in a calendar year to prevent shut-off. Most other programs help provide payment plans for ongoing help.
How do I know that my donation goes to those who need it most?
The WAVE Fund works with established service agencies, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department and Department of Human Services, and others where families and individuals in need typically apply for help.
What will WAVE do to help make future water bills more affordable?
Recipients of WAVE Fund assistance will qualify for utility efficiency counseling to promote conservation and help manage future utility bill expenditures.
